How we evaluate tools
What we look for, how we test (or don't), and how we decide what to recommend.
Our editorial question
Every comparison and review on CashwiseAI is built around one question: is this tool worth paying for, for someone like you?
We are not trying to rank tools by feature count. We are trying to help solo businesses, freelancers, and creators make a confident, informed decision before spending money on a subscription.
Evaluation criteria
We evaluate tools across the following dimensions:
- Use case fit. Does this tool solve the right problem for a solo business at your stage? Is it built for your workflow?
- Pricing clarity. Is the real cost clear before you commit? What happens to your bill as you grow?
- Ease of setup. Can a non-technical user get started without hiring help or spending hours in documentation?
- Core limitations. What does the tool not do well? Who should avoid it?
- Overbuy risk. Is there a simpler or cheaper tool that would serve the same purpose?
- Integration fit. Does it connect with the tools most solo businesses already use?
- Support and documentation quality. Where known and relevant.
Testing status
We are explicit about how each page was researched. You will see one of the following labels:
- Tested by us. We have used the tool directly. Observations are based on hands-on experience.
- Researched, not hands-on tested. Content is based on public documentation, pricing pages, published user feedback, and available product information. We have not used the tool ourselves in this case.
- Needs update. Pricing or features covered on this page may be stale and is flagged for review.
We do not claim to have tested tools we have not tested. We do not publish fake reviews.
Pricing
Tool pricing changes frequently. We include pricing summaries as a starting reference, with a caveat to check the tool's website for current figures. We do not publish detailed pricing tables without a last-checked date.
Affiliate relationships
Some pages contain affiliate links. We disclose these clearly near the top of any page containing them. We earn a commission only if you buy through an affiliate link, at no extra cost to you.
Affiliate relationships do not influence which tools we cover or how we evaluate them. We do not accept payment for positive coverage or manipulated rankings. See our affiliate disclosure for full details.
What we do not publish
- Fake star ratings or numeric scores without a documented methodology.
- Fake testimonials or fake user counts.
- "Tested" claims where we have not actually used the tool.
- AI hype copy, passive income content, or crypto/trading advice.
- Thin category pages with no useful editorial content.
Updates and freshness
Published pages show an updated date and, where relevant, a last-checked date. We aim to update money pages when significant pricing or feature changes occur. Older content that has not been reviewed is flagged where possible.
